A few months ago, I got a nudge to create a dreamcatcher for the new grandbaby-to-be. Oh, and I guess it’s been a bit since I’ve talked about her … yes, Darling Daughter and her hubby are definitely having a girl! I love dressing little girls up. This is going to be sooo much fun! 😀 They’ve chosen Aurora Roslyn for her name.

Anyway, little Aurora and I are already getting acquainted … and plotting. When DD teaches her Reiki classes she has her students use her as the “client” during the “final” so she can be sure they are doing things correctly. When I took the level I class from DD a few months ago, she asked that we give all energies to the baby (apparently she loves it). I went last, and DD told me after that with the other students Aurora was calm, maybe even napping. But with me, she got very active and was definitely responding to me. Smart kid. 😉

I was pretty sure she’d had some influence on the diaper cake I made for the shower … now I’m certain of it. She was definitely conspiring with the fae and I in making her dreamcatcher.

I’d started it here at home a month or so before we went on vacation and had hoped to have it done in time to give it to DD at the baby shower back in June. But things got crazy and I ended up not working on it much. So I took it to Shasta with us and was able to finish it up there. I think it needed to be made there … the energy of the area (plus me being nice and calm) adds a wonderful quality to its energy.

When I got that nudge to make it a few months ago, I decided I wanted to do something that would represent both parents as well as the baby. I’ve never seen anything like that before and briefly thought about doing a triple like I’d made for our house, but almost immediately nixed that idea. I’ve seen double dreamcatchers (sometimes called soul connection dreamcatchers) for couples and decided to do something similar, but with a separate, small round catcher in between two interlinked, larger catchers.

The final dreamcatcher, while close to what I’d originally had in mind, is in many ways not something I’d normally choose to put together. I strung stones for each of the three of them on the webbing and had an idea of how I wanted the pattern to be. Yeah, right. I typically work in either 3’s or 7’s … but this one ended up being in 9’s. It wasn’t until I gave up trying to force it that the design finally emerged and things went smoothly. So once again, I’ve had to make something but had no real control over the design. LOL

I took some pictures while we were still up in Shasta. They’re not the best (pictures from my camera never are … it’s too old) but at least they give a good idea of what got made. The overall picture looked better without a flash, but the close-ups needed the extra light, so if the first one looks a bit dark, that’s why.

Here’s the “whole thing”:

To give an idea of the size, the two “parent” rings are roughly 10 inches in diameter each, and the little one in the center is about 4 inches in diameter. Mom is on the right, and dad is on the left. For mom I used cherry quartz, sunstone, moonstone, and rutilated quartz bead chips. For dad I used amethyst, apatite, iolite, and tourmilated quartz. DD is an Aries and her hubby is a Pisces and these stones fit their personalities well. For the baby, I used tanzanite, a very high vibration and joyful stone.

In the center, at the bottom, I’ve hung a rose quartz point (rose quartz is the stone for love)

And on either side, there are two pink tourmalines and a lemurian quartz point … I had to wire wrap each of those before I could hang them.

And on the hanger, at the top center, I attached a heart made from mother-of-pearl.

Yeah, it’s not quite what I’d originally envisioned, but I love it! And more important, so does DD. But I think the kids are in big trouble … if Miss Aurora is already conspiring, I can only imagine what a handful she’ll be once she’s actually here. I think this is going to be a lot of fun. 😆
