I’m sure some of my bloggy pals have noticed I’ve not been commenting much (OK, hardly at all) the last couple of weeks. With all that has been going on between work and the kids, things have been a little crazy. To top all that off, we were trying like hell to get our butts off to a nice long vacation … we all really need it!
So … we made it through the baby shower a week ago (after wading through more of the muck and mire at work) and spent the following day packing and trying to straighten up the house a bit so our friend who comes to feed the bird and the fish wouldn’t be tripping over the mess. I had high hopes of getting done early enough to (for once) get a decent bit of sleep before having to drive all day. But alas, this was (yet again) not to be. By the time I finally fell asleep I think I got a 90 minute “nap” before having to get back up. Even with weekday traffic (we left Monday morning) we made it up to Shasta in about 11 hours though. Not too bad. π
We’ve been here 5 days now and are finally feeling a bit rested and ready to go exploring. The good news is we decided on a longer stay this year (15 days instead of the usual 8) so we still have plenty of time to get out and play. The bad news is that we’re once again stuck with dial-up for internet access. Blech. I had hoped that we’d be able to use the cell phone to get online but even though the phones work here, they can’t do the 4G thing needed for online. Boo.
I’m not sure if I’ll be able to catch up with all the blogs I’m behind on, but I’m going to try. The slow connection with the dial-up does put a damper on things. Oh, and the fact that I’m working on a huge dreamcatcher for the new little one doesn’t help. Hopefully I can get caught up, worst case I’ll just start fresh when we get back. But honest, I’m not ignoring anyone. π

You’re so sweet dear! I love my bloggy family … I just wish there were more hours in the day to get to all the things I want to do. π
And ha-ha … yeah, dial-up is really old school isn’t it? But we rarely find a rental house that has either internet access offered or cell service good enough to use the phones, so I’ve hung onto to the same ISP because they are one of the few who offer dial-up anymore.

Hey, there is a reason that there are still places where the modern technological wonders are not available. That reason is to have a true break from everything. Focus on your family, have a wonderful time. We will all be here when you return to civilization. It will come soon enough.

Thanks hun! Yeah, I know you’ll all be here. But hey, I figure I’m doing good with no TV and only a little online time. π

Ha! I’d rather you come back from your holiday feeling totally rested than see a comment or a like from a more frazzled you on my blog. Kick back and enjoy your vacation! Dial-up internet ISN’T WORTH IT, and this is coming from a woman who still doesn’t have a cell phone!

π *chuckles* You’re so cute Dana! Well, the frazzled me is definitely gone and I think I’ve about caught up on sleep so we’re doing good! The dial-up drives us both a bit nuts, but it does allow for keeping the ole inbox clear and at least checking up an a few folks here and there. π

Glad to hear you’re feeling rested. If I were you, I’d skip the internet and just relax and enjoy your vacation. I also recommend starting fresh. It’s what I’ve had to do after my recent travels. π

Thanks Robin!
I get the desire to start fresh, but I think I’d be behind again in no time flat once I’m back at work. It’s one of those no win situations … at least I have a few days after we get back to do some catch up with my DSL. π

Enjoy your vaca! Get some rest and come back and visit when you have time. For me, as you can tell, it’s during work hours. Honestly, if there was 42 hours in a day, it would still feel like there wasn’t enough time. I’m going to have to start taking some time to relax. It’s important…just like your vacation! Rest, relax, recharge and enjoy!!

Thanks sweetie! Yep, some down time is definitely needed once in a while. π
I’m with ya on the day length … I’d love to have 6 more hours a day, but I know I’d fill that up and be needed more almost immediately. π
