… when your blog friends start wondering why you haven’t posted. Has it really been six weeks? Yikes! Sorry guys. It’s just been really insane. So I guess I owe you all an update, right? OK … here goes! πŸ™‚

Work has taken up a huge amount of time and energy the last couple of months. In some ways it’s been really good. My new cohort has been doing a terrific job and has been a huge help. We’ve had some fun actually building up hardware even though there have been a number of challenges. But challenges can be good too … helping someone get through problems is one of the best teaching tools I know of. And I’ve had my own set of challenges dealing with idiotic management types. Those same clueless twits that refuse to listen and are always surprised when I lay it out for them … regardless of the fact that I brought the same stuff up (repeatedly) over the past year or so. I could continue to aggravate myself with trying to explain things using logic, but that would require that they actually listen and have the desire to learn. They’re clearly not interested in that though, so I’ve decided to change tactics. I’m using what some might call “passive resistance” at this point.

For the near term at least, they need me more than I need them. They know this and are a little afraid I’ll just say “screw it” and take a month off or quit, so I can push back a little more than some other folks can. So I decided that it would be better for my mental health (and blood pressure) to just box them into doing things my way. I’ve been putting together my own schedules for the tasks I’m responsible for … and then emailing those schedules to the twits, and their boss. Basically I’ve said “your schedules are unrealistic so here’s MY schedule that meets your end date and this is all I will commit to”. We’ve already gone toe-to-toe on the first one I sent out … and if I believe the immediate boss (still not sure if I do) he got nailed for my task starting two weeks after he had it scheduled to start. Oh well. They’ll either learn or they won’t but I can’t let that be a factor anymore. I’m only concerned with making sure the hardware stays safe and gets put together correctly. If it doesn’t, there’s not much point in launching the satellite. πŸ˜‰

On the home front, it seems there’s been less time for chores. I’m not sure that’s really true, but I never seem to have enough time to get everything done let alone trying to get time to goof off. I’ve mostly managed to keep up with reading blogs but haven’t gotten much farther on my own than starting a few drafts that have languished in the dashboard area. I suppose I’ll finish them when they are needed. I have managed to eek out a little time to do a few things. I got the spring version headpiece and wreath made (though I need to take pictures) and was able to get a bracelet fixed that I’d broken. I’m currently working on a dream catcher for the granddaughter-to-be and hope to have that done in time for the baby shower in June … but damn they take a lot of time! I still haven’t gotten to the blouses I want to make, but I figure worst case I can drag the new sewing machine up to Shasta with me. We did make some time to hit the Ren Faire in April and had a few hours of fun. Darling Daughter did better than she thought she would. She was concerned she’d only be able to do a couple of hours, but made it almost four. Though she had to put up with a little teasing as she’s started to do that “waddle” that all us moms know too well.

On the working with energy front, I’ve not had nearly enough time to play with my grids. But the last few weeks I’ve been taking a Reiki class that Darling Daughter is teaching. It’s been a lot of fun but it too has some challenges. It’s yet another situation where I’ve had to process a lot of energy and there have been a few issues with that, but for the most part it’s really cool. There are four people in the class and we practice on each other so we know what to look for if/when we deal with others. I’m enjoying it enough that I’m considering using it to help others assuming I can find the time. I can see where it could definitely end up helping me in the long run.

That’s pretty much what’s been going on here, and keeping me from blogging. And we’re five weeks from heading to Shasta … I’m definitely looking forward to that! Now if I can just get caught up on the rest of the household chores by the time we’re ready to head out, I’ll be really happy.

Hope you are all doing well. Now that summer is knocking at the door I’m sure we’ll all be just a little busier. And I’ll see if I can kick loose another post or two in the next couple of weeks. πŸ˜‰
